Welcome to the Perfect Pitch Project - Free Music Lessons for Sharper Ears and Brighter Brains
PRIVACY STATEMENT
At the Perfect Pitch Project, delivered through the Clear Pitch Program, we take your privacy seriously.
This privacy statement outlines how we collect, handle, and protect information during participation in this community-based musical learning initiative and pre-research pilot.
1. Information We Collect
-
Parent/carer information only: We collect basic contact information (e.g., name, email, phone number) from parents/carers for communication and coordination purposes.
-
No identifying information about children is collected or stored.
-
We may invite parents to note their child’s approximate age (in years and months) to help tailor resources.
2. Voluntary Participation
-
All participation is 100% voluntary.
-
You may withdraw at any time without giving a reason, and all communications or informal notes will be deleted upon request.
3. Anonymous Observations Only
-
Parents may choose to provide anonymous observational feedback on their child’s engagement (e.g., whether they sang a note or remembered a melody).
-
Feedback is not mandatory and is recorded without names or personal identifiers.
-
No photos, videos, or voice recordings of children are collected or stored by the program.
4. Optional Free Group Sessions
-
Some families may be invited to attend free in-person or Zoom-based group sessions, which are entirely optional and observational only.
-
These sessions are not recorded, and only families who opt in will be included.
5. Data Use
-
Any shared feedback is used to improve the delivery and design of the Clear Pitch Program as it prepares for a future university-approved research study.
-
Occasional informal summaries may be compiled (e.g., “30% of families noted increased pitch memory after 2 weeks”), but only in aggregated, anonymous form.
. Data Security
-
All data is stored securely with access restricted to the project coordinator (Blake Kearney).
-
No third-party platforms or researchers have access to your data.
7. No Marketing, No Sharing
-
Your information will never be shared, sold, or used for commercial purposes.
-
You will not receive marketing communications unless you explicitly opt in to receive future updates about the Clear Pitch program.
8. Future Research Alignment
-
This pilot study is not yet a formal academic research project and does not require university ethics approval at this stage.
-
However, it is conducted in alignment with formal ethical practices: including informed consent, voluntary participation, withdrawal rights, anonymous reporting, and secure handling of feedback.
-
Any future formal research participation would involve a separate, university-approved consent process.
